Peanut Butter to Haiti

January 15, 2010

The American Peanut Council sent the following: Several organizations in the peanut industry are joining efforts to ship a container (or more) of peanut butter to Haiti. An offer to spearhead the effort came from Early County 2055 (a 501c3 non-profit) in Blakely, Georgia. They also donated $5000 and Birdsong Peanuts has now matched that donation. We are currently working with Tara Foods to purchase the peanut butter and have it loaded on a container early next week. Jeff Johnson is working with Stephanie Grunenfelder at APC and others are working with Sanford Bishop’s office to find the best distribution channel. We would like for this to be a united peanut industry donation effort and are accepting cash contributions of any amount.
Please email me (stabb@birdsong-peanuts.com) or Lisa Collins at EC2055 (lcollins@earlycounty2055.com) right away of your donation and send your tax deductible donation to:
EC 2055 – PNB for Haiti, P.O. Box 725, Blakely, GA 39837. Make checks payable to: “Early County 2055” and note on check “pnb for Haiti.” Please pass this message on to anyone who might be interested in participating.

January issue and movement in the field

December 30, 2009

Hey folks. It’s mid-way between the holidays, but PG is in full swing for the coming season. The January issue should be hitting mailboxes soon. You’ll want to look closely at the products available for your pest problems. It may prompt a question or two for the experts at your grower meetings. I am already seeing fields being plowed (probably for watermelons) and even a new pivot going in. Just gets me revved up for the year! I love it! Let me know what gets you pumped up for the season?
