Members of the TWENTY12 Women’s Pro Cycling Team visited the Clemson University Edisto Research & Education Center in Blackville, S.C., for a peanut farm tour on June 21. The team, sponsored by Peanut Butter & Co. and the National Peanut Board, was in the region for the Elite Road Nationals in Augusta, Ga. NPB South Carolina delegate Monty Rast, SC Peanut Board Chairman Richard Rentz and peanut specialists Jay Chapin and Scott Monfort educated the team members about how peanuts grow, sustainability efforts in the industry and peanut research.
“In their travels across the country and internationally, these talented women are ambassadors for USA-grown peanuts and peanut butter,” said NPB President and Managing Director Marie Fenn. “Through this farm tour, they met real peanut farmers and received a genuine farm-to-table experience of peanuts that they are excited to share with others.”
